
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the second session of its flagship alumni talk series, “IUB CSE Alumni Stories: Career and Coffee,” on May 17, 2025. The online event connected current students with successful alumni working in the global tech industry.
Featured speakers included Rupok Chowdhury Protik and Kazi Bushra Al Jannat, both graduates of the M.Sc. in Computer Science program, Class of 2023. Rupok currently employed as a Cryptography & Certificate Analyst and DevSecOps Engineer at Liberty Global, delivered a real-world case study highlighting the operational strategy and acquisitions of Liberty Global, including Sunrise and Telenet. His talk emphasized corporate culture, brand integration and the role of AI and cryptocurrency in the company’s evolving tech ecosystem.
Bushra, a Software Engineering Specialist, shared her personal journey and offered career development tips for students preparing to enter the job market. Both alumni emphasized the importance of practical learning, adaptability, and aligning academic knowledge with industry demands.
The session was coordinated by the CSE External Outreach Office, led by student volunteers Masuda Alam Moutushi and Ifsia Sarwar Rodela, under the supervision of Dr. Mahady Hasan, Associate Professor and Coordinator of External Outreach and an alumnus of the Class of 2001.
Designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world tech careers, the Career and Coffee series reflects IUB CSE’s commitment to student career readiness, industry engagement and alumni relations. The department plans to continue hosting these sessions to inspire students and keep alumni meaningfully involved in the academic community.
