
North South University (NSU) welcomed its new intake of students through the Orientation Fall 2025 program, designed to introduce freshers to the university’s culture, values and academic approach.
As part of the event, 94 students were awarded scholarships at various levels, including 35 who received full merit scholarships for their outstanding performance in the Bachelor’s (Honours) admission test.
Dr. Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, attended as chief guest. Special guest Aziz Al Kaiser, chairman of the NSU Board of Trustees, and guest of honor Benajir Ahmed, member of the Board of Trustees, were also present. The session was chaired by NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem, followed by a documentary screening. Registrar Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen delivered the welcome speech. Deans from the four academic schools introduced their faculties: Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam (School of Humanities and Social Sciences), Professor Shazzad Hosain (School of Engineering and Physical Sciences), Professor Dipak Kumar Mitra (School of Health and Life Sciences) and Professor AKM Waresul Karim (School of Business and Economics).
In his remarks, Chief Guest Dr. Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman said, “In just thirty-one years, North South University has achieved a truly extraordinary position in the landscape of higher education in Bangladesh. With quality education, advanced research, and a modern outlook, NSU has demonstrated that it is possible to build a world-class university. Yet, this is not the end of the journey. Launching MPhil and PhD programs is now a demand of the time.”
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Aziz Al Kaiser noted, “NSU is committed to providing world-class education, preparing students to apply their knowledge to real-life challenges. At NSU, we ensure our students not only excel academically but also become valuable human resources.”
Board of Trustees member Benajir Ahmed highlighted NSU’s new Purbachal campus, saying, “Since its inception, NSU has been committed to providing students with a creative and constructive environment. To expand this vision, we have developed a new campus in Purbachal, including residential facilities for students.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury congratulated the freshers, saying, “You have proven your potential by completing one of the most rigorous admission tests in Bangladesh. At NSU, we follow a globally recognized curriculum and modern teaching practices, ensuring our students develop into valuable human resources for the nation.”
NSU Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC), Professor Abdur Rob Khan, delivered the vote of thanks, reaffirming the university’s commitment to nurturing critical thinking, ethical leadership and innovation.
The program concluded with a cultural performance by members of the North South University Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS).
