Next 50: Collective Futures Book Launch at Brac University

School of Architecture and Design at Brac University Book

A book titled Next 50: Collective Futures has been launched at Brac University exploring interdisciplinary themes on architecture. This book published by University Press Limited consists of 49 chapters by 81 authors from around the world focusing on heritage conservation, urban and rural development, placemaking, informality, inclusivity, landscape infrastructure, disaster resilience, emerging technology and the well-being of future generations.

Project was undertaken by Open Studio and contextbd.com with Shah Cement supporting the initiative. Dean of the School of Architecture and Design at Brac University Fuad Hassan Mallick editor-in-chief of the book and Mohammed Zakiul Islam a professor at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology reviewed the book’s significance to Bangladesh’s evolving urban landscape.

Book’s executive editors Dr. Tanzil Shafique and Dr. Saimum Kabir shared insights into the collaborative effort. Syed Ferhat Anwar vice chancellor of Brac University expressed hope that the book would inspire policymakers, development practitioners and individuals interested in shaping Bangladesh’s future.
