To celebrate and deepen the millennia-old cultural ties between China and Bangladesh, “Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Week” has commenced at the Art Gallery of Brac University, as part of the broader “Millennium Cultural Bonds”—China-Bangladesh Cultural Exchange Month.
The event was inaugurated with a grand cultural performance, graced by Brac University vice chancellor Syed Farhat Anwar as the chief guest. Other notable speakers included Md. Wares Hossain, Acting Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Han Zhiqiang, China’s designated cultural heritage bearer, and Li Shaopeng, Cultural Advisor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh.
In their remarks, the speakers emphasized that the bond between China and Bangladesh extends beyond diplomacy—it is rooted in a shared heritage and enriched by centuries of cultural exchange. They highlighted that intangible cultural heritage forms a timeless bridge between the two nations, uniting past, present, and future.
China, known for having the highest number of UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage elements, showcased exquisite works representing its ancient traditions. The exhibition features traditional handicrafts, musical instruments, and other cultural artifacts, offering visitors a glimpse into the richness of Chinese heritage.
Following the speeches, the event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and exhibition tour.
The exhibition is more than a display—it symbolizes human unity and mutual understanding through cultural dialogue. This Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Week will remain open to visitors until June 26.
