EWU Alumna Abida Islam Pranty Joins University of Cambridge as Postdoctoral Research Associate
East West University (EWU) is proud to celebrate a significant academic milestone achieved by one of its distinguished alumni, Abida Islam Pranty, who has been appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, University of Cambridge, UK. She will begin this new chapter in February 2025.
Pranty, who enrolled at EWU in Spring 2014 as a pharmacy undergraduate, has built an impressive academic and research career. After graduating from EWU, she pursued a Master’s in Translational Neuroscience at the University Hospital of Düsseldorf, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. She recently earned her PhD in Biology from the same university with the highest academic distinction, summa cum laude, for her groundbreaking research in stem cell-based disease modeling and regeneration.
Her innovative work has been published in leading international journals such as Stem Cell Reports, EMBO, Cells, and Scientific Reports (Nature). As a postdoctoral researcher at Cambridge, Pranty will investigate rare respiratory diseases using advanced stem cell and lung organoid models, aiming to contribute novel insights and therapeutic approaches to this critical area of biomedical science.
EWU takes immense pride in Pranty’s remarkable achievements and her commitment to advancing global health through science. She now joins a growing list of EWU alumni who are making their mark in postdoctoral research at world-renowned institutions including Harvard Medical School, the University of California, the University of South Alabama, the University of Hamburg, and the University of Greifswald.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abida Islam Pranty and wish her continued success in her research endeavors. Her journey exemplifies the excellence of EWU graduates and serves as an inspiration to students aspiring to make a global impact through academic and scientific pursuits.
