North South University Orientation

North South University Orientation

North South University (NSU), one of the country’s premier private institutions of higher education, held its orientation program for newly admitted students of the 2025 summer semester on May 17. This event took place at 10:45 AM at the NSU Plaza on the university campus.

Orientation program began with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a documentary highlighting NSU’s journey, accomplishments and diverse academic and extracurricular initiatives. Dr. Ahmed Tajmin registrar of NSU delivered the welcome speech.

This semester, students have enrolled in 19 undergraduate departments under the university’s 4 academic schools. Several high-achieving students based on their admission test performance will receive scholarships covering up to 100% of their tuition fees.

NSU vice chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury presided over the event. Chief guest was Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources in the interim government of Bangladesh.

Distinguished members of the board of trustees—including chairman Azim Uddin Ahmed, MA Kashem, Benazir Ahmed, Rehana Rahman and Aziz Al Kaiser—attended as special guests.

Undergraduate Admission Test Waiver Eligibility Criteria

  1. For All Applicants (General Requirement):
    • Must have a minimum total SAT score of 1000, considering:
      • Critical Reading
      • Math
      • Writing
  2. Additional Requirements for Science and Engineering Applicants:
    • Must have at least CGPA 3.5 in Math and Physicsseparately in:
      • HSC or A-Level examinations.
  3. For Students with a Two-Year Bachelor’s Degree:
    • Can apply for admission into a four-year undergraduate program.
    • EWU may consider credit transfer only if:

Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Convocation

AUST Holds 12th Convocation

12th convocation of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) was held on Wednesday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal, Dhaka. A total of 9,532 students received their degrees, with 8,471 graduating from the honors programs and 1,061 completing their master’s degrees.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, presided over the convocation ceremony as the representative of the President of Bangladesh. Renowned water and environment expert Professor Ainun Nishat delivered the convocation speech.

In his address, Dr. Salehuddin emphasized the university’s foundation in science, technology and ethics, calling AUST one of the country’s leading private technological institutions. “This institution aims to shape a responsible, thoughtful, and humane generation,” he said.

Professor Ainun Nishat, in his speech, reminded graduates that convocation is not just the end of a journey but the beginning of new responsibilities. “The strength you’ve built here will guide your decisions and help you overcome future challenges,” he said.

Chairman of the AUST Board of Trustees and President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Professor Dr. Golam Rahman, described the degree as a “responsibility” and encouraged graduates to contribute to national development and global welfare.

AUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Haque highlighted the achievements of AUST alumni in international arenas and encouraged graduates to follow in their footsteps. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman and Treasurer Professor Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury also addressed the gathering. The welcome speech was delivered by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Haque.

The event was attended by members of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Board of Trustees, Syndicate, Academic Council, deans, department heads, faculty, staff, university officials, vice-chancellors of other institutions and distinguished guests.

This summit is a flagship initiative of the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave, aiming to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving progress across business, governance, and society.
