
12th convocation of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) was held on Wednesday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal, Dhaka. A total of 9,532 students received their degrees, with 8,471 graduating from the honors programs and 1,061 completing their master’s degrees.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, presided over the convocation ceremony as the representative of the President of Bangladesh. Renowned water and environment expert Professor Ainun Nishat delivered the convocation speech.
In his address, Dr. Salehuddin emphasized the university’s foundation in science, technology and ethics, calling AUST one of the country’s leading private technological institutions. “This institution aims to shape a responsible, thoughtful, and humane generation,” he said.
Professor Ainun Nishat, in his speech, reminded graduates that convocation is not just the end of a journey but the beginning of new responsibilities. “The strength you’ve built here will guide your decisions and help you overcome future challenges,” he said.
Chairman of the AUST Board of Trustees and President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Professor Dr. Golam Rahman, described the degree as a “responsibility” and encouraged graduates to contribute to national development and global welfare.
AUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Haque highlighted the achievements of AUST alumni in international arenas and encouraged graduates to follow in their footsteps. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman and Treasurer Professor Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury also addressed the gathering. The welcome speech was delivered by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Haque.
The event was attended by members of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Board of Trustees, Syndicate, Academic Council, deans, department heads, faculty, staff, university officials, vice-chancellors of other institutions and distinguished guests.
