AIUB Tourism and Hospitality Management Students Gain Industry Exposure at Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel

In a significant step toward enhancing industry-academic collaboration, students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) at the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), participated in a study visit to Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel on May 15, 2025. This initiative reflects AIUB’s commitment to providing practical learning experiences that align with global standards in hospitality and tourism education.

Bridging Classroom Learning with Real-World Hospitality Industry

The visit included a series of interactive knowledge-sharing sessions led by industry professionals. Speakers included:

  • Kazi Moazzem Hossain, Director of Food & Beverage
  • Nasir Uddin, Housekeeping Manager
  • Roni Kumar Khan, Director of Human Resources, who delivered closing remarks

The event was coordinated by Mahbub Alahi, HR Assistant, and supported by Majharul Islam, Sales Coordinator.

This educational tour was organized by Sharmin Sultana, Assistant Professor, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Chartered Marketer (UK) and Head of the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, FBA, AIUB.

Career Opportunities and Internships in Hospitality Management

One of the highlights of the visit was a discussion on internship and job opportunities for AIUB graduates at Renaissance. Mr. Roni Kumar Khan acknowledged a past disconnect between AIUB and Renaissance but expressed optimism that this initiative would foster a long-term partnership in talent development.

Students engaged actively and gained hands-on insights into hotel operations, hospitality service excellence, and future career paths in the tourism and hospitality industry. The experience concluded with a guided property tour, showcasing the hotel’s luxurious design and exceptional facilities.

Advancing Quality Education and SDG Goals

This visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of “Quality Education,” reinforcing AIUB’s dedication to nurturing future leaders through industry-relevant training and exposure. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, along with the Departments of Marketing and International Business, continues to champion experiential learning as a core component of its academic approach.
